I was so happy to photograph Amy and Andrea, two amazing doulas, for their new site.

What is a doula you ask?

The word ‘doula‘ — pronounced ‘doo-la’ — is a Greek word meaning ‘woman servant or caregiver’. More recently, it refers to someone who offers emotional and physical support to a woman and her partner before, during and after childbirth. A doula (also known as a birth attendant) believes in ‘mothering the mother’.  In simple words, they are amazing people that help mamas out so much!

Amy and Andrea have had a wide range of experiences which lead them to birth work.  They continued to be inspired and find becoming partners to be energizing!  They are professional, compassionate and committed to bringing non-judgmental support to all families.  Of course with simplicity and a dash of laughter.  Together they serve Southeast Michigan in all environments.  They love to laugh, sing karaoke, and eat cake.  Check them out!
